The Move

Nothing quite turns your world upside down like cramming all your possessions into a truck and watching the truck drive away! But that's exactly what we did last week. After a long and drawn-out process fraught with delays and hiccups, we became the owners of a cute little house in the Philly suburbs.

When we were first married, we moved five times in 4 years; each time with a U-Haul and lots of help from friends and family. With my back bring totally screwed up, we knew that there was NO WAY we could do it alone. We solicited advice from friends on Facebook, narrowed the choices to three companies and got quotes from all of them. The cheapest guys seemed like the best bet, but they were booked through the end of the month, and we were anxious to get into the new place. I got the quotes last Friday and one company said they could move us the next day! We hadn't packed anything yet, but we agreed and worked into the wee hours of the night getting ready for their arrival.

At 8am the next morning, five guys and two trucks showed up and went to work. We stepped out to run some errands and when we came back a few hours later, they had totally cleared out the house. it was amazing! We drove to the new place and they unloaded everything just as nicely, and I was amazed at how smooth the process was. Why hadn't we done this before?

We're beginning to settle in nicely to the new place after lots of help from our folks to unpack and watch the kids while we got the dangerous stuff out of reach. I'm sure we'll be looking for stuff in boxes for months, but it already feels like home!
