God is in the Details

What a crazy week!  After being pushed back every day since Feb. 25, we FINALLY had settlement on our new house on Friday!  I'm notoriously impatient when it comes to stuff like that, and it was hard to know if this was God trying to develop my character by teaching me patience or that He just didn't want us to have the house.  But in our final pre-closing walk-through the day of closing, I was upstairs in what will be one of the kids' rooms and a beautiful red-crested woodpecker landed on the poplar tree just outside the window!  I come from a birdwatching family, so I could appreciate that woodpeckers are rare in this season, so I took it as a sign from God that we were on the right track!

We were showing the house to our folks today and some of the neighbors stopped by.  We discovered that it was the only house in the cul-de-sac to come up for sale in 12 years!  Apparently everyone loves the neighborhood!  What was truly funny was that our neighbors attent the church that Amy & I were married in!  In fact, Amy's mother had our neighbor in her Sunday school class!  What a riot!

We're just overjoyed with how God moved in this whole process; in finding the place, providing it at a good price and allowing us to keep this house while we make the transition.  I know we're going to love the new neighborhood (and my 4 minute commute to the church) and can't wait to get this place sold!
