Dave Feeds A Hungry Monkey!
On our family vacation to Wellsboro, PA last weekend, we went to this animal rescue that was setup like a zoo, except you could pet everything (except the tiger...and the bear). There were loose goats and cats runnings around everywhere, but the hilight was Ethel, the monkey that could catch Fruit Loops.

"The Sky is Falling"
Josiah and I went to a family chicken BBQ yesterday at my uncle's house. The weather was great, so it was held outdoors amidst the aroma of marinated chicken and fresh-cut grass. My aunt and uncle bought the property from their grandfather, so the property is shaded by towering walnut trees. In fact, I can remember playing baseball with the fallen walnuts when I was a kid.Everyone loved Josiah. It was the first time for some to meet him, and truth be told, I love showing him off. He's just the BEST baby, and he's a little cuddlebug these days. Sleeps great, hardly ever cries...
So my Mom was holding J and talking with her sister when suddenly a walnut falls from the top of the tree and hits Josiah smack on the head! He looked shocked then he realized that it REALLY hurt! He began sobbing, which freaked everyone out a little except for the fact that it was so freakin' funny! I mean, what are the odds? We could re-create that scenario if we tried! We rubbed his head and held him tight, but he was having none of it! We setup a pack'n'play and he went down for a 2 hour nap. I think he may be over his affinity for foliage.
We awoke from his nap eager to play and no worse for the wear, so I'm sure he's fine. But I'll never look at fallen walnuts quite the same way again.

Random updates
My sister pointed out that it's been a while since I've updated the blog, and I stand rebuked. Here's what happens the the sofa swallows Josiah: (he loves it, by the way...)
Here's Josiah on some hay bales. He was like, "what is this stuff?"
And finally, one of my favorites: we bought a new shop vac for a project that I was working on this weekend. I noticed that the box was "Josiah-sized" and lots of fun ensued.

Josiah & the DVR
What is it with boys and remotes? We have a living room full of bright colorful toys, and all Josiah wants to play with is the TV remote. Once I put it down, he makes a dash for it, presses the buttons, then (of course) puts it right into his mouth. I figure if it makes him happy, just let him play with it. What's funny is the number of shows he's recorded on the DVR . . .
